Word Of the Head Department of Atmospheric Science

In the name of God the most Merciful, the most Compassionate

There are many scientific and practical contributions made and provided by the Faculty of Science in its various departments, including the Department of Atmospheric Science, which was established in 1980 under the name of the Department of Meteorology, which was later developed and modernized to become the Department of Atmospheric Science in order to be more comprehensive and expanded and to cover all sciences related to the atmosphere, as is applicable in other prestigious universities.

The Department of Atmospheric Science at the Faculty of Science, University of Tripoli, is the only university department in the field of specialization in Libyan universities, and the Department of Astronomy, which was established at the Faculty of Science, University of Benghazi, participates in this, and both meet the community's need for specialized research and studies and qualified competencies in their field of specialization, and to achieve this, the department provides specialized scientific consultations and works to complete sober scientific research and at the same time performs its educational mission of preparing, qualifying and training students enrolled in its undergraduate and postgraduate study program and providing them with knowledge And the necessary experience required by the labor market and its various institutions, The department, while accomplishing all of this, is fully aware of its important specialized role that most of the strategies, programs and plans for development and development that the community aspires to in all service and productivity fields and seeks to keep pace with everything new in its field of specialization and to achieve its goals, the department is based on a clear vision for scientific research and on an integrated, specialized and interconnected study plan that provides students with the latest science in its field of specialization and makes them keep pace with all developments and scientific applications in atmospheric science in a way that qualifies them and supports them with the ability and efficiency even They join the labor market as highly qualified specialists and familiar with other scientific branches associated with it.

The department grants bachelor's and master's degrees in atmospheric science, in accordance with the requirements and regulations, programs approved for granting scientific degrees. The implementation of all this is supervised by a number of specialized and scientifically qualified faculty members who hold master's and doctoral degrees from prestigious international universities.

Aware of the importance of communication and exchange of knowledge, research and education with universities and other institutions locally and internationally, the department has worked to link the department with a number of corresponding departments in international universities and specialized technical centers, where scientific and research interaction takes place to allow benefiting from other experiences and expertise and provides the field for continuous development and modernization. On the other hand, the department pays attention to these programs and agreements and hopes to support and develop them in a way that will reflect positively on the students of the department in the undergraduate and higher stages as well as on other institutions that the department's graduates join later,In this regard, the department is eager to activate many of the items contained in these bilateral agreements, which include bilateral student exchange programs for master's degree students and grant them joint certificates, which is related to the operation of specialized laboratories and the automated meteorological station of the department, in which work has been completed by 85%, which is an integrated and specialized station implemented as part of the structural program carried out by the university aimed at modernizing the inductive and educational structure, which will undoubtedly contribute to the success of many educational and research programs.
