About Engineering Management Department

The department was founded in the year of 1991 as the first postgraduate engineering management department in the country. The engineering management department followed the development of the local Libyan industries, demand for engineers, and fulfilled his task by introducing his outcomes of engineers to the Libyan labor market.

The proposed programs are designed to prepare highly-skilled engineers and leaders in different management projects, who will be able to design and implement solutions to power engineering challenges with respect to economic, ecological and technical constraints. The Engineering Management Department consists of three study programs which are Energy management, Construction management, Production and service management. The Energy management program looking for energy and its technical applications, while the construction management and production looking for planning and evaluation of different civil and architecture areas methodologies.

 The graduate program in the Engineering Management was designed to prepare students with sound undergraduate background for an in-depth study of techniques in analysis and project management. The versatility and depth in scientific fundamentals acquired by the student enable him to carry out a program of advanced study and research independently. Usually, the case studies in graduate program directly linked with the technical and management problems of the corresponding organizations and companies as well as linked with the scientific institutes founded in the country.

Students are encouraged to select a thesis topic in their area of specialization within the field of Engineering Management areas. Thesis work is a valuable learning experience in which students have the opportunity to develop their abilities to search the literature, plan, analyze, experiment, evaluate, present and defend their work in addition to achieve a degree specialization. The thesis topic and thesis Advisor should be selected as soon as possible in the student’s overall program. It is the policy of the faculty that the selection of a Thesis Topic and Thesis Advisor be a voluntary process which is initiated by the student.
