Description

  • The program provides a specialized study of drugs from natural sources such as plants and marine organisms.
  •  During the study, the physical, chemical, and biological properties of these drugs are determined in preparation for their medical use in the treatment of human diseases.

Objectives

The program aims to prepare graduates 

  • With extensive knowledge of extraction and separation methods and identification of natural products using spectroscopic and chemical methods.
  • Contribute to enriching the research aspect of Libyan medicinal plants, and benefiting from them in various therapeutic and pharmaceutical applications.
  • with Skills and knowledge enhancing their capabilities to detect and control the quality of natural products
  • to improve their research capabilities to shed light on alternative and traditional medicine practiced in Libyan society

Outcomes

  • The program provides graduates with sophisticated scientific knowledge in the field of natural products capable of enriching the field, activating scientific research, and conducting research related to medicinal and poisonous plants.
  •  It also provides graduates capable of working in the pharmaceutical industry. also, they will be qualified graduates to work and supervise research and academic centers

Entry Reuirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences approved by the Quality Assurance Center.
  • A grade of (Good)  or above in the Bachelor's degree.
  • Passing the entrance exam.
  • admission of new students depends on the capabilities available in the department.

Study Plan

The Master in pharmacognosy prepares students to qualify for Master in pharmacognosy. The student studies several subjects which have been carefully chosen in this major to cover its different aspects.

It comprises 2 Years of study, in which the student will study a total of 30 units, which include 6 units of general subjects, and 24 major units
